Prince William, Kate Middleton have no prenup, sources say

[HMG Celebrity News] – Across this great land nearly 23-million people watched Prince William and Kate Middleton marry on Friday, but one thing omitted from the opulent ceremony was a prenuptial agreement. It’s now been revealed William refused one.

Sources close to the palace say no legal document was signed that could safeguard his wealth if the marriage ends in divorce, but the suggestion had never been formally made;

“William was advised that some sort of legal agreement might be a good idea,” shared a close friend. “But he loves Kate and trusts her implicitly, and was adamant no agreement was necessary.”

William earns $61,800 a year from his job as a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force. He was also left around $10-million in her will when his mother, Lady Diana died in 1997. And that’s grown substantially since then.

His father, Prince Charles pays the costs of William’s home, and his great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, also placed a very large amount of capital in trust for Will and his brother Harry.

And royal staff are worried by all that, because the new bride has no income at all. The 29-year old Duchess resigned from her parents business in January to plan for the wedding and she’s currently still out of a job.

Sarah Ferguson got $25,000 a year from Prince Andrew after their marriage collapsed in 1996, and Diana landed a $23-million payday when she and Prince Charles divorced in 1996. And people close to the palace seem eager for the new couple to undo their decision and avoid a repeat of this folly;

“If she were my sister, I’d tell her to get a good prenup,” Diana’s former private secretary Patrick Jephson told the Mail. “Kate’s not just going into a marriage, she’s going into a business.”

But such concerns seemed far away on Friday night as the couple welcomed 300 close friends to a romantic reception at Buckingham Palace. The night started as the bride and groom danced to Ellie Goulding’s cover of ‘Your Song.’ Next came a speech by Prince Harry which was warmly received, then Ellie got her turn;

“The atmosphere was incredible,” she told reporters. “It’s a night I’ll never forget.”

The soirée finally ended at 2am, and as guests filed out to the strains of the Kings of Leon’s ‘Sex on Fire’ they were presented with two chocolate cupcakes featuring the new wedding portrait.

But what do you think; Should Will get a prenup or should Kate get a job? Leave a comment and let’s get your input…
