David Letterman smacks Donald Trump over ‘racist’ remarks

[HMG Celebrity News] – Having already upset Jerry Seinfeld and Robert De Niro, Donald Trump has now skilfully offended another celebrity name – David Letterman. Donald had questioned President Obama’s educational record and David was fuming;

“Then this nonsense about ‘Oh, how did he get into Harvard, how did he get into Columbia, how was he able to write such a memoir?’” Letterman said on last Thursday’s show. “That’s a different point of view as far as I’m concerned. Other people are not amused by this tactic, and nobody should be.”

Dave’s guest, Dr. Phil tried to run defense for Donald but Dave was not ready to stop.

“My point is it’s all fun, it’s all circus…until it starts to smack of racism,” said Dave. “Then it’s no longer fun. I have heard enough smart people to convince me this very insulting… How can you say things like that if you’re not a racist?”

Letterman then made it clear he’d be expecting an apology next time Donald appeared on his show. This upset Trump, and after his bruising at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last week he tried to come out punching…and failed;

“I was disappointed to hear the statements you made about me being a racist,’” he wrote in an open letter to the New York Post. “Nothing could be further from the truth. Based upon your statements, and despite the fact we have done so well together I am canceling my May 18th appearance on your show.”

Dave even made a bet with Bill Maher last week on whether Trump would run for President or not. His reaction to the Don’s latest tantrum is so far unknown but who do you think is right in this case – Dave or the Don?
