[HMG Celebrity News] – In a rare feat for Hollywood news is arriving of preparations for an original movie. Universal is now in talks with Oscar winner Jeff Bridges to co-star with Ryan Reynolds in a movie about a police unit of the undead – R.I.P.D.

Based on the successful comic strip by Peter M. Lenkov and due to be directed by Robert Schwentke ['Lie to Me'] the film tells the story of Nick Cruz, a police officer recently killed on the job. He joins a team of similarly undead officers who work for the ‘Rest in Peace Department’ and sets out to capture the man who killed him.

Jeff is due to step into the role vacated by Zach Galifianakis. Zach dropped out because Ryan couldn’t be in the film if Warners decide to make a ‘Green Lantern’ sequel, and Ryan’s presence was why Zach wanted to sign.

There’s no cast list available yet and the exact story is unclear as the script isn’t finished, but this has some promise. Jeff won the Oscar for ‘Crazy Heart’ in 2009 so he’s got the skills to make something this off-the-wall actually work.

What do you think? Bad idea, wrong cast or good movie – Let’s hear your views…
