‘Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford gets plea deal in silly marijuana bust

[HMG Celebrity News] – As you might have read, ‘Gossip Girl’ star, Chace Crawford was recently found in the presence of drugs and faced jail time. Well, the boy’s done a deal and it looks like he won’t be fitted for prison clothes any time soon.

The 24-year old Texas native was arrested on June 4th of last year outside a bar in Plano, after being found sitting in a car in which police found one joint of marijuana. Chace pleaded innocence but could face six months in jail if the case went to court.

But the future now looks somewhat brighter – Chace has agreed to what’s called a ‘Pretrial Diversion’ program. This means if he stays out of trouble [and away for the weed] the charges will vanish and he won’t get a criminal record.

The conditions are these:

• He must not be arrested for, nor partake in any criminal act for one year
• He must do 24-hours of community service
• He is now required to report to a probation officer once a month

Exactly what the community service might be is not explained, but it’s due to occur in the Summer and I’m quite sure we’ll all be kept well informed by his reps.

In our first report on this case we said it was an example of life and art getting rather too close, and that still seems to fit. He told the cops he was ‘just in the wrong place at the wrong time.’ but what’s your review – Is he innocent or is this just another over-entitled B-lister using fame to get free?
