[HMG Celebrity News] – With at least four crime shows in their schedule NBC could win a prize for being obsessed with the law. But it’s now been announced the network is preparing an adaptation of John Grisham’s legal drama ‘The Firm.’

Published in 1991 the book – which was also made into a movie in 1993 starring Tom Cruise – tells the story of Mitch McDeere, a Harvard law grad hired by a law firm that turns out to be part of the Mob. He becomes an FBI mole and helps the Feds bust the firm, then flees to the Caribbean with $10-million he stole from his bosses.

NBC is now in negotiations with John Grisham’s reps for a small-screen translation of the hugely successful novel. John is on-board as a Producer and the first series is due to run for 22 shows.

The book has sold over 7-million copies so far, so NBC clearly has the raw material for an international hit. The next question is casting – there’s no mention of stars yet, so who would you pick?…
