Tom Hanks to Star in ‘Cloud Atlas’ Movie
(HMG Celebrity News) – In case you’re a Tom Hanks like I am you’ll be glad to know you are gonna see a lot of him on the big screen in the near future. Hanks who recently committed to play Captain Richard Phillips in “A Captain’s Duty,” the real life story of a captain’s heroics in the face of a Somali pirate invasion, just signed on for another big role.
Deadline reports Hanks has now agreed to play a lead as Dr. Henry Goose in the upcoming film, “Cloud Atlas,” which is based on the best selling book by David Mitchell and will be scripted and co-directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski (of “The Matrix”) and Tom Tykwer (of “Run Lola Run”) .
Cloud Atlas is described as “An epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.”
The book bounces back and forth from the past to the future, and from character to character so it’s going to be interesting to see if it translates well to the big screen. “Cloud Atlas” is in pre-production and will begin filming in September.
Hanks will also soon appear on the big screen in the movie “Larry Crowne,” a romantic comedy already shot with Julia Roberts, and is currently filming “Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close.”
