[HMG Celebrity News] – Adding fuel to the rumors concerning the future of 30 Rock, Alec Baldwin has joined Penelope Cruz and ‘The Social Network’s Jess Eisenberg and signed on for Woody Allen’s next movie.

This will be the second time the two men have worked together; Alec last appeared in Allen’s 1990 comedy ‘Alice’ with Mia Farrow and Cybill Shepherd. And Woody thinks filming in his beloved New York has become too expensive so the new film will be shot on location in Rome.

As proof of his range, before the cameras start rolling with Woody, Alec is booked to play Dennis Dupree in the movie version of the hit Broadway musical ‘Rock of Ages,’ where he’ll share screen time with Julianne Hough, Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand and perhaps Amy Adams.

But these two films could become Alec’s farewell — Lately he’s been claiming he plans to retire from acting next year, possibly to enable a run for political office. During his acceptance speech at Sunday’s Comedy Awards Alec clearly said he wants more time with his family;

“I want to thank my family, because doing this job is tough and I haven’t been able to see everyone,” he said. “I don’t see them as much as I’d like to.”

‘More time with the folks.’ We all know what that means.Could he really be mulling a run for office? ‘President Baldwin’…Hey, we’ve had worse.

Apart from the movie it’s all just rumors, but if Alec does run would he get your vote? And what should happen to ’30 Rock’ without him? Let’s hear your reaction…
