Daniel Radcliffe swaps Harry Potter for ‘Woman in Black’
[HMG Celebrity News] – When the first Harry Potter movie opened in 2001 Daniel Radcliffe was a gawky 12-year old with a bad haircut and glasses. But his first post-Harry film role in ‘The Woman in Black’ may surprise you;
Set in Victorian England the story concerns a young British lawyer, Arthur Kipps, who has to sort out the legal affairs of Mrs. Drablow, a lonely woman who lived in an isolated house on the coast. Alone in the house Kipps hears noises and often sees the ghost of a woman in black.
Neighbors tell him unsettling tales of how Drablow’s unmarried sister had a baby which the pair raised in secret. That sister’s ghost now haunts the house – dressed in black – and all who see her are soon touched by death.
Starring as Kipps, Daniel shot the film just after completing the last chapter of Harry Potter [due out in July.] He’s joined by Ciaran Hinds, who plays Dumbledore in ‘Deathly Hallows 2,’ and Oscar nominee Janet McTeer.
Based on a book from 1983 the story’s so strong it’s so far been made as a TV movie, a radio play [twice], and in 1989 it opened as a stage play in London and is still running today. So Daniel chose pretty well.
The now 21-year old millionaire is also drawing raves from the critics for his performance on Broadway in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” So life is pretty sweet.
This trailer gives you some idea of the doom-riddled story and Daniel’s part in it. Watch it and let us know what you think…
