Jeremy Renner offered the lead in new Jason Bourne film?

(HMG Celebrity News) – Despite his involvement with multiple big franchise titles arriving over the next two years, Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner is reportedly Universal’s top choice to star in ‘The Bourne Legacy’.   Renner is currently working on Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, set to star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol this winter, and is already committed to become Hawkeye in next year’s The Avengers.   With names as diverse as James Franco, Shia Labeouf, Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund and Paul Dano, among others, touted, Renner wasn’t said to be writer-director Gilroy’s first choice: as he supposedly wanted Oscar Issac (Robin Hood, Sucker Punch), but Universal Pictures supposedly vetoed that underdog choice according to Latino Review in favor of the more bankable Renner.  Whoever finally gets the lead role will be a new character appearing in a parallel storyline,  because there’s a hope Matt Damon might reprise his role further down the line which could have the two super agents appearing together.
