‘Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester joins new Adam Sandler film
[HMG Celebrity News] – For reasons that still deftly resist all explanation another Adam Sandler movie has received the green light, and this time ‘Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester is joining the cast along with ex-rapper Vanilla Ice.
Called ‘I Hate You, Dad!’ the film tells the story of a bride-to-be whose future father-in-law [Sandler] moves in with the couple before the wedding and starts a feud with his son’s forthcoming spouse. Andy Samberg [Parks & Rec / SNL] is also on board, and James Caan is close to signing as the bride’s hard-nosed father.
In his first big-screen outing since the thankfully forgettable ‘The New Guy’ in 2002, Vanilla Ice will appear as an old friend of Adam’s character.
The script is by David Wain ['Californication' / 'CSI: Miami,'] and Ken Marino, and Sean Anders and David Waine – who co-wrote ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ – will share the chores of Director. The result is due out on June 15, 2012.
Before then 24-year old Leighton is set to share screen time with Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy in the comedy, ‘Monte Carlo.’ It’s about three girls who share a failed trip to Paris, then one gets mistaken for an heiress and they’re whisked off to the exclusive resort and get endlessly spoiled. It opens on July 11th.
And later this year she’ll be in ‘The Oranges.’ Here a guy falls in love with the daughter of a family friend and life gets really awkward. It co-stars Hugh Laurie and ‘West Wing’s Allison Janney. Entourage’s Julian Farino is directing and Ian Helfer, who’s worked on ‘Law & Order,’ was involved in the script.
If you’re Gossip Girl fan you’re clearly in for a treat. These films sound like fun but let’s hear what you think…
