Lindsay Lohan ducks charges (again) in Betty Ford case

[HMG Celebrity News] – Already facing prison for the alleged theft of a necklace back in January, Lindsay Lohan has just received a piece of good news – The case regarding an alleged assault at the Betty Ford Center in December has been dropped.

“We are not filing any charges in the Lindsay Lohan case due to insufficient evidence,” John Hall, a spokesman for the Riverside County District Attorney’s office told People.

The case concerned an alleged assault on December 12 in which Lohan supposedly threw a phone at the employee, Dawn Holland, then pulled another phone out of Dawn’s hand after Holland accused her of being drunk and returning to the clinic after the prearranged curfew.

In January the DA’s office received a full report on the incident from the Sheriff’s department which covers the area in which the clinic is based. They now say there’s not enough evidence to put Lohan on the stand, but they deny it took them too long to decide.

“It wasn’t looked at any differently than other case, and we didn’t put any special priority on this,” says Hall. “We also had to re-interview several witnesses.”

But Lindsay’s legal worries are not over yet; She’s still facing a possible trial for the alleged theft of a necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store on January 22nd.  The preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22. If found guilty Lohan would be facing a minimum of one year in state prison.

And this is not the first time Lohan’s been suspected of having light fingers: In 2008 she was accused of stealing a $12,000 mink coat from a New York nightclub. The next year she was suspected of taking a $400,000 necklace from an Elle Magazine shoot and last year she claimed ‘a friend’ just…gave her a $35,000 Rolex.

So those are the facts, guys — The Betty Ford case is now dead and over but LiLo could still be looking at some time in a cell. But what’s your opinion – Did the DA make the right call or did LiLo get yet another free pass?…
