Social Network’s Armie Hammer to Play a Prince, in Snow White Movie

(HMG Celebrity News) -  The Social Network star, Armie Hammer, 24, has been cast as Prince Andrew Alcott in Snow White, the upcoming (June 2012) film featuring Julia Roberts as the evil Queen.

This version is being billed as a modern retelling of the Brothers Grimm story: “After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, Snow White bands together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarfs to reclaim what is rightly hers,” according to a statement from studio Relativity Media.  The role of Snow White has yet to be cast.  Hammer who appeared in “Social Network” as the twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, is currently filming Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar.”

Director Tarsem Singh (“The Cell”) starts shooting Snow White in May for a June 2012 release.  And because Hollywood is mostly devoid of new ideas, get ready for lot’s of Snow White movies.  Universal’s Snow White movie will star Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Meanwhile Disney, which knows a thing or two about the fairy tale,  is moving ahead on a Snow White project set in 19th century China.
