LAPD erased crucial Michael Jackson surveillance tape, sources claim
[HMG Celebrity News] – The LAPD’s investigation into the death of Michael Jackson has been exasperating at times, and here’s a new report that say they wiped the surveillance tape of Jackson’s house – and that could impact the case against Dr. Murray.
As you’ll recall, when Michael died on June 25 of ’09 he was living in a rented mansion on North Carolwood Drive in LA’s Holmby Hills area. Security cameras outside the home run 24/7 and record everyone who enters and leaves.
Michael’s death is now a criminal case, and in February last year Dr. Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter. His attorneys are due to petition a court today for those tapes to help their client’s defense – and thereby hangs a problem;
The police only copied four minutes of the tape which show Jackson arriving home for the last time at 12,30am. The original tape was replaced in the surveillance system, where it runs as a loop every 24-hours and was completely erased.
In their defense, the LAPD say when they got the tape they only needed to ‘establish a timeline’ of when Jackson returned home. It was not a criminal case at the time so the tape was returned. Apparently they never even watched the whole thing.
Had the LAPD successfully assembled the intellectual foresight to just copy the tape they would now have infallible proof of who entered the home, and when that occurred. Instead they have just four minutes of Jackson, and that could severely weaken their case against Dr. Murray.
This is far from the first time we’ve highlighted inefficiencies among the LAPD, but it’s among the most glaring. If you’ve been following the case let’s get your input on this…
