‘Big Bang’ actor Jim Parsons signs on for Broadway show

(HMG Celebrity News) – It has been announced that Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and Pushing Daisies alum Lee Pace have both signed up for the upcoming Broadway debut of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer’s acclaimed 1985 play set during the early years of the AIDS crisis in New York City.  With a recent Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the physicist Sheldon Cooper, Parsons will make his Broadway debut in “The Normal Heart,” playing Tommy Boatwright, a Southerner in a nascent group of HIV/AIDS activists in the early 1980s. Pace, meanwhile will also be making his Broadway debut in the role of Bruce Niles, a closeted fellow activist.

The actors will join previously announced cast members Ellen Barkin, Joe Mantello and John Benjamin Hickey in the production, which is directed by Joel Grey and begins previews April 19, with an opening slated for April 27.
