(HMG Celebrity News) -  Slumdog Millionaire star Rubina Ali, 12, and her family were part of the 2,000 people who were left homeless by a massive fire in a slum of Mumbai.  Rubina who played a young version of Latika, one of the two main characters in the movie,  lost all the awards and newspaper and magazine articles she had kept as mementos of the 2008 Hollywood film. Rubina issued a statement via CNN, that she lost all their worldly possessions: “my awards are gone, my memories are gone.” Rubina was saved by her mother who led the family to safety.   Rubina and her family are now living in a temporary shelter. Rubina’s father Rafiq Qureshi tells CNN they plan to move into a new home provided by a trust set up by the film’s director Danny Boyle next month.   I am not really sure why Rubina was still living in that slum two years after Slumdog won the Oscar and over a year and a half after her co-star, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, was moved to a one bedroom apartment with his brother and parents through the same trust fund set up by producers.  Rubina said she is grateful for the support she and her family have been receiving from the trust.
