Christina Aguilera selected as judge and mentor on NBC’s ‘The Voice’
(HMG Celebrity News) - Finally some good publicity for Christina Aguilera, who has had a rough time of late, culminating, in her arrest for public intoxication on Tuesday, while her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, got a DUI.
But yesterday, Aguilera was officially announced as the third judge, joining Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine of Maroon 5, on NBC’s “The Voice,” their new singing competition reality show meant to rival Fox’s “American Idol”. The hip judging panel will not only judge, but they’ll coach the contestants, too.
Carson Daly is set to host the show produced by Mark Burnett and John de Mol, who created “The Voice of Holland,” the Dutch television obsession that the show will be based on.
In a statement, Aguilera said:
“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.mI am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to ‘The Voice’.”
I just hope Aguilera is really up for this challenge as rumors continue to swirl that she needs rehab to deal with alcohol abuse issues.
