David Letterman Tells His Side of Supposed Lindsay Lohan Appearance

Published on February 17, 2011 at 9:00 AM

(HMG Celebrity News) – With her recent legal battles it seems that Lindsay Lohan’s team has an aversion to bookings.  David Letterman became the victim of a Stupid Pet Trick when he was lead to believe that Lindsay Lohan had agreed to present a Top Ten list on his program, by none other than Michael Lohan, who thought he was doing his daughter a big favor.   Michael apparently got the idea after hearing Letterman make a joke during a special Grammys ‘Top Ten’ segment about Lindsay “caught stealing a Grammy.” The show received a call from someone purportedly from Lohan’s camp saying she loved the joke and wanted to appear on the show. Lohan’s scheduled appearance was highly publicized throughout the media.

Lindsay tweeted Tuesday night that she’d never agreed to a satellite appearance on the show, but Michael told TMZ on Wednesday that he was the one who’d set up the deal, allegedly with his daughter’s consent, but that her reps put the kibosh on the appearance.

“Anything positive that I bring into her life … [her people] try to nix it,” Michael Lohan said.

Letterman commented on the situation on his show Wednesday night.

“I have no one to blame but myself, and boy is my face is red,” Letterman said about the mix-up.

“I hope I didn’t embarrass you, Lindsay, and your family,” the late-night host said — with a bit of dry sarcasm, which the audience obviously picked up.
