Sean Penn and Wyclef Jean settle feud over Haiti
[HMG Celebrity News] – Thousands of people rushed to help Haiti after the earthquake on January 12th of last year. Among them were Wyclef Jean and Sean Penn, who have since been locked in feud over each others motives.
But peace has now broken out.
Born in Haiti in 1969, the 41-year old former Fugee was stunned by the quake, and on August 5th of last year he announced he would stand for election as the new President to help the nation recover.
But Sean wasn’t impressed. In a CNN interview around the same time he said Wyclef could ‘create a new swell of social unrest in a plagued country’ and accused him of deserting Haiti when it clearly needed help.
Wyclef’s reply was swift and acidic; “Maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine.”
The two have been trading blows in the media ever since. But on Saturday they met by chance at B.B. King’s ‘Blues Club & Grill’ in Times Square and it seems they’ve now worked things out.
“When they saw each other it started a confrontation,” a source tells the Post. “Things seemed pretty tense and they were led into a dressing room backstage, and shut the door. They weren’t yelling, but they aired their differences for 30-minutes. When they came out they went on-stage and stood side-by-side.”
Sean made the first move. Grasping the microphone he pointed at Wyclef, who was joined by Michael Martelly who is campaigning to be Haiti’s next President, and made his opinions quite clear;
“In Haiti, we’ve got an opportunity as Americans, whether you are from Haitian diaspora or pr**ks like me,” Sean told the crowd. “These two men will lead the way if you support them…let’s move on for some fun.”
Reps for the pair have been oddly silent, but it appears the conflict is over. Do you think Wyclef would have been a good leader or not – Let’s take a vote…
