Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz unveil unexpected divorce

[HMG Celebrity News] – Compared to some Hollywood married couples, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz seemed quite stable. But not any more – Ashlee has just filed for divorce.

The former couple were married at Ashlee’s parents home in Encino, California on May 17th, 2008. The joint statement announcing the break-up was issued today and reads simply;

“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remain our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

Documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court reveal ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the cause of the split. Ashlee is also asking for primary physical custody of their two-year-old son, Bronx, plus spousal and child support.

You might be thinking someone else is involved, but that’s not the case. Insiders say the cause of the break-up is far less mundane – Ashlee just can’t handle Pete’s apparent quirks any more;

“It’s really about Pete’s erratic behavior,” one snitch tells TMZ.”She really wanted out.”

The ex-couple were last seen together just a few days ago, strolling through West Hollywood with Bronx in Pete’s arms. They showed no signs of trouble…and today we get this.
