Family Portrait of Elton John with Partner and New Baby Causes Stir

(HMG Celebrity News) – Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish were featured on this past weeks cover of Us Weekly, with their newborn son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. The couple said the important thing for  Zachary, who was born via a surrogate on December 25, 2010, weighing in at 7-pounds, 15-ounces at birth, “is that he’s healthy and happy and loved” and that neither daddy cares if their little boy grows up to be gay or straight.”

Others of course don’t share their open attitude, and controversy broke out Wednesday when a shopper at a Harps grocery store in Mountain View, Ark. spotted a “family shield” usually reserved for magazines like  Playboy or Maxim, over the Elton cover in the checkout aisle, “to protect young Harps shoppers.”  Jennifer Huddleston, saw the censored magazine at Harps  and posted a photo on Twitter, and gay and lesbian groups quickly reacted angrily to the incident. A spokesperson for Harps said that the move came in response to a number of customer complaints, but that it was “in no way our opinion on this issue.” They added, “We do not have an opinion on this issue.”
