George Clooney Now Fully Recovered After Contracting Malaria In Sudan
(HMG Celebrity News) – Apparently trying to drum-up some excitement for his interview of the star, CNN host Piers Morgan. The new host of ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’ tweeted that actor and philanthropist George Clooney has contracted malaria:
BREAKING NEWS: George Clooney has contracted malaria following recent trip to Sudan. Reveals news on @PiersTonight tomorrow 9PM ET.
CNN.com followed with an excerpt from Clooney’s upcoming interview with Morgan, in which he talks about how he got the disease: “I guess the mosquito in Juba looked at me and thought I was the bar,” Clooney quipped.
Clooney apparently got the disease for a second time while in southern Sudan during the pivotal election for independence in early January. Symptoms include high fevers, shaking chills, and flu-like illness. While a thousand nurses were ready to come to George’s aid, it seems that things are under control. AccessHollywood has since obtained a statement from Clooney’s representative, saying that he no longer is infected with the disease.
“George is completely over the Malaria he contracted while in the Sudan during the first week in January,” the statement read. Clooney himself added: “This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa, can be reduced to bad ten days instead of a death sentence.”
Clooney, who taped the interview on Jan. 13, (hence Morgan’s not up to date information), is scheduled to appear on Morgan’s show Friday night.
