Ricky Gervais Goes to Far As Host of Golden Globes?
(HMG Celebrity News) – I still love the glitz and glamor of these award shows but I found it painful to watch Ricky Gervais last night. Gervais had previously promised he wouldn’t get invited back to host the Golden Globes, and I think he completely delivered on his threat. Gervais went to those places and soft targets that just made me cringe and I wonder how others who watched felt?
Did you catch his opening monologue where he ripped on Charlie Sheen and John Travolta?
“It’s going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking. Or, as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast.”
“Also not nominated was ‘I Love You Philip Morris,’ Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Two heterosexual characters pretending to be gay,” he said. “So the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists, then.”
How about his intro to Robert Downey Jr., where he went through a list of the actor’s films and added, “But many of you in this room probably know him best from such facilities as the Betty Ford Clinic and Los Angeles County Jail.”
I loved Robert’s off the cuff comeback:
“Aside from the fact that it’s been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I’d say the vibe of the show has been pretty good so far, wouldn’t you?”

Gervais was the best part of the show. People are way too uptight if they can’t take some sarcastic, biting humor. These people see this everyday in tabloids and all he did was jopke about the rumors and stories.
I thought Gervais was hilarious. I was worried that Gervais was kicked off half way through the programming. He was missing for a huge chunk of it. He was actually the reason why i watched the Golden Globes. Who would want to see a comedian make boring light jokes? He did a great job at pushing buttons and getting a reaction.
