Keira Knightley and longtime boyfriend Rupert Friend officially split

(HMG Celebrity News) – We mentioned a few weeks ago there were evident signs of trouble in paradise for this couple.  And now Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend have called it quits, on their relationship, after five years together.  The rumors escalated when 29-year old Rupert attended the premiere of the English National Ballet’s ‘The Nutcracker’ in London last month. He brought his mother Caroline to the show, but Keira, 25, was nowhere in sight.  A source tells PEOPLE that the couple, who had shared a London home overlooking Hyde Park, quietly broke up a few months ago, citing work and distance issues.  Ironically it was their careers that likely split them up, but initially helped bring them together.  The two originally met in 2005 on the set of the film Price and Prejudice where Rupert played  the conniving Mr Wickham, while Keira played Elizabeth Bennet.
