Dr Conrad Murray to stand trial in Michael Jackson’s death
(HMG Celebrity News) – A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor has ordered that Michael Jackson’s former personal physician Dr Conrad Murray stand trial for involuntary manslaughter. Tuesday night’s ruling against Dr Murray came after a six-day preliminary hearing, where prosecutors presented their case calling more than 20 witnesses. Authorities contend that the 57-year-old, Houston-based physician gave Jackson a lethal dose of propofol, a powerful anesthetic, along with other sedatives and then failed to follow up with proper care. They also say Murray was distracted and on the phone after giving Jackson the propofol, and that Jackson was already dead when Murray called for help. Prosecutors concluded the hearing with testimony from two doctors who said Dr Murray acted outside the standard of medical care. Both witnesses said that even if Michael Jackson had self-administered the last dose of the anesthetic, his death would still be a homicide because of Dr Murray’s actions. A date for the trial has not been set yet, Judge Pastor also granted a request by the California Medical Board to suspend Dr Murray’s license to practice in the state.
