Ivan Reitman dispels rumors on Ghostbusters III says script is ready
[HMG Celebrity News] – Although he’s currently promoting his new rom-com, ‘No Strings Attached,’ with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, Ivan Reitman is the one man who knows the truth about ‘Ghostbusters 3.’ Some blogs claimed Bill Murray hated it and the movie was doomed…which was big news to Ivan;
“We have a really good script, but Bill has to read it,” he tells Coming Soon. “There’s been all kinds of chatter online about him reading it and not liking it. He has not read a thing. And I just sent it to him. So we’ll see.”
A lot of blogs said Bill Murray hated the script and would only appear as a ghost. Others said the son his character, Pete Venkman had with Dana Barrett [Sigourney Weaver] would take over the business, but Ivan dispels all those tales;
“There’s almost nothing that’s accurate online about that film. Nothing,” he confirmed. “There’s been a ton of stuff about casting, about who’s in or out – None of it’s true.”
And the tale about Pete Venkman and Dana’s son taking charge of the business was also brushed aside;
“Yeah. I mean, Sigourney has a role in this movie. All the original characters have parts; as well as a whole bunch of new characters.” Ivan enthuses. “It’s got a really good story. Maybe the best of the whole series. I hope we get to do it.”
The third installment apparently follows the original Ghostbusters as they reopen their business after years in mothballs. Unconfirmed reports said they then hire some new ‘busters and let the new blood take over.
The movie is due in theaters by next Christmas…Or perhaps 2012 — the studio still can’t make their minds up. But will you go and watch?…
