Enquirer Claims John Edwards Has Asked Rielle Hunter To Marry Him

The National Enquirer is claiming that John Edwards proposed to his baby momma and mistress Rielle Hunter over Christmas vacation? The supposed proposal comes after Elizabeth Edwards, passed away last month after a battle with cancer, and a report that came out yesterday that John Edwards was left out of his wife’s will for obvious reasons. The Enquirer has some credibility, because they broke the original story, and otherwise it might never have been revealed that the former presidential candidate carried on an affair with Hunter during his failed 2008 presidential campaign and got her pregnant. However as the Huffington Post mentions it is worth noting that they posted nearly the exact same story regarding an Edwards-Hunter nuptial and a “luxury $3.5 million beachfront home” last year, a report that was later denied. Edwards is already denying the Enquirer’s latest report with a family spokeswoman telling The Daily Beast, that the report of the upcoming nuptials, “I can tell you that it’s not true.” Barry Levine, executive editor of the National Enquirer, said the publication stands by the story, has a credible source and points out that how can we take anything John Edwards has to say on this subject at face value. The Beast though wonders whether Rielle who has seemed at times to relish her notorious fame may have been the source for the Enquirer’s latest claim.
