Eminem plans action sequel after ’8 Mile’ success
[HMG Celebrity News] – A lot of musicians convince themselves they can act; Mariah Carey, Lil’ Kim, Justin Timberlake and Cher come to mind. But a few of them are actually right, and Eminem has decided to do it again.
Almost nine years after making his debut in ’8 Mile,’ which won him the 2003 Oscar for ‘Best Original Song’ the 38-year old rapper plans to cruise the red carpet again with a starring role in ‘Random Acts of Violence’ a crime-thriller now being prepped by 20th Century Fox.
The movie has been wedged in development hell for over four years, with the script undergoing multiple drafts. The current version tells of an ex-con who is desperate to stay out of jail. But his former buddies try to lure him back into crime, and the FBI also want him to help them bust the whole group.
So what does he do? We have to wait and see.
The rest of the cast is not decided as yet but ‘Californication’s David Von Ancken was among the flock of writers who tried to wrangle the script, and THR says he’s now on-board to direct.
So this could be quite a good year for the Missouri-born singer – Since ’8 Mile’ bowed to lukewarm reviews in 2002 he’s concentrated on music. And it shows – His most recent album, ‘Recovery’ has been tapped as the top-selling album of 2010.
If you saw ’8 Mile’ would you go and see this? The critics all loathed Em’s last film, but what’s your review?…
