[HMG Celebrity News] – With the exception of Harry Potter, the Twilight films are the most successful franchise in recent film history. But after the final film opens in November next year, fans of Robert Pattinson won’t lose their beloved idol – Robert is moving to Cosmopolis.

The 24-year old Londoner has now signed for the lead role in the oddly-titled film, based on the 2003 novel by Don DeLillo. It’s the story of Eric Parker, a 28-year old billionaire and financial whiz who spends a weird day in his vast limousine and loses huge amounts of money on Wall Street, which gets him marked for assassination and signals his doom.

Almost the whole movie takes place in the limo and David Cronenberg is due to direct. Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti are also booked to appear. Colin Farrell was also keen but he’s dropped out to do the inexcusable remake of ‘Total Recall.’

And Robert’s been busy – He’s also set to wow fans in April in Fox’s ‘Water for Elephants,’ with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. Here he plays Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student who drops out of school when his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet. It opens on April 22nd.

Quite a range, don’t you think – how much further can you get from a vampire?

As for ‘Cosmopolis,’ it’s reported by Deadline that Rob took the role because he’s a big fan of Cronenberg’s work and also enjoys the novels created by Don DeLillo. There’s no date for filming yet but you can be sure the media reps over at Fox will be happy to keep us advised.

So if you’re a lover of Twilight, what do you think of this? Can Rob switch from being a creature of the shadows to a wizard of Wall Street? Have your say in the comments…
