David Arquette may soon be ‘Ranking the Stars’
[HMG Celebrity News] – After the unsettling revelations on the Howard Stern show, Courteney Cox’s estranged partner David Arquette has found another outlet for his curious tastes in disclosure. He’s going to host a celebrity game show.
The 39-year old actor has partnered with the Merv Griffin group [makers of 'Jeopardy' and 'Wheel of Fortune'] and will host a new show called ‘Ranking the Stars’ in which celebrities rank each other to see who’d be more likely to do weird stuff, like tell the paparazzi their own location or ‘leak’ a sex tape.
And the president of the Griffin group, Roy Bank has high hopes for the show’s success.
“This show is all about celebrities hanging out and letting their guard down,” he told Variety. “David’s whole persona is that, and this honesty has come back to haunt him. If there was ever a celebrity that matches the show, it’s this one.”
Roy says the weekly show will be like “Hollywood Squares,” crossed with a roast. Seven celebs will play for charity, while civilian contestants can win prizes by guessing how those celebs will rank themselves on the questions.
He also told the scribes that each show would feature stars who know each other, like the cast of a a sitcom or the odious Kardashian family.
“The more they know each other, the funnier it will be,” he explains.
And David’s got the chutzpah to do this – His grandpa, Cliff Arquette was a regular on the Tonight Show and several Hollywood panel shows, where he played ‘Charley Weaver.’
“A lot of my humor is from a self-deprecating place anyway,” David admits. “My flaws are what make me funny, and I have no problem letting people poke fun at that.”
The show’s debut is not definite yet, but David and Roy plan to pitch it to the networks right after New Year’s.
If they find a buyer, would you watch?…
