Reese Witherspoon Talks Career & Divorce While Boyfriend Picks Out Engagement Ring?
(HMG Celebrity News) – While she’s taken somewhat of a long break since winning a Best Actress Oscar in 2006 for Walk the Line, Reese Witherspoon has now shot three movies that will hit theaters over the next year. Reese is featured on the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly, and opens up to the magazine about her life and new movie, In How Do You Know (rated PG-13, opening Dec. 17), in which she’s an Olympic-caliber softball player whose career has hit a wall and who finds herself caught romantically between a rakish star pitcher (Owen Wilson) and a broke businessman (Paul Rudd).
On why she wasn’t making many movie of late: “I don’t know what happened. I just didn’t read anything I liked. And I think if you don’t work for a while, you get a little, like, stuck. It was particularly hard around the writers’ strike. But it feels different now, too. The movies that are being made feel different. There are a lot of really, really, really big movies about robots and things—and there’s not a part for a 34-year-old woman in a robot movie. I’ve never done the giant robot movie. Never done the superhero movie. That doesn’t interest me too much.”
Next year Witherspoon will also star in the period romance Water for Elephants and the action comedy This Means War.
On what she does when not shooting films: “I also have kids, so when I’m not working, it’s not like I’m sitting around doing nothing. I’m taking care of two kids who are rapidly growing up in some bizarre time warp. I mean, somehow I now have an 11-year-old.”
Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have two children together – 11 year old Ava and seven year old Deacon. She said recently that she would like to have more children, and is now dating Hollywood agent Jim Toth, whom she began seeing in February.
Witherspoon on divorce “It definitely sometimes feels like a suit that I wish I could zip off,” the ‘How Do You Know’ star said. “But I don’t feel bad about any of the things I’ve gone through, whether it’s divorce or breakups or anything like that, because that’s all part of the life journey, and I have those experiences just like anyone else. And I think it deepens what you tap into creatively.”
Phillippe also had a tough time, but said this past June that he’s working to move on, as well. “I still have sadness and complicated feelings about my divorce. But how beneficial is it to keep hanging onto those feelings?” he said. “If someone lives through an accident, his aim is to become better and healthy. My aim is always to progress — to make better decisions and be a better father, a better boyfriend, a better husband if it happens again.”
Word is Reese might be getting married soon, as a RadarOnline source says her Hollywood super agent boyfriend Jim Toth is planning to propose “very soon” and has picked out a ring! Toth has reportedly made the rounds at several high-profile jewelers, including Harry Winston over the past few months.
“He was looking for something pretty big, around three or four carats. Reese probably wouldn’t wear anything larger than that since she’s not showy,” the source added.
“Price wasn’t an issue” for Toth who was named one of the new heads of CAA’s motion picture talent department in September.
While the source wasn’t sure when Jim would get down on one knee, the source said: “It is expected to happen over the holidays.”
