Police Say Bullet Ties Suicide Victim To Murder of Ronni Chasen

(HMG Celebrity News) – Case closed or convenient chance to tie up loose ends? The person of interest in Ronni Chasen’s death who killed himself when confronted by police, is now being called the likely perpetrator of her murder. Police revealed in a press conference late Wednesday that Harold Smith, murdered Chasen and acted alone.  The gun Smith used to kill himself last week had been reportedly matched to the bullet recovered from Chasen’s body.  Smith committed suicide in his Hollywood apartment building on Dec. 1 after police came to question him regarding Chasen’s murder.  Officials previously said they were not certain Smith was involved in the crime last month, but according to TMZ, Beverly Hills detectives believe Chasen was fatally shot on Sunset Boulevard, but managed to turn left and drive hundreds of yards — and witnesses may have seen enough to place Harold Smith at the scene. Law enforcement sources admit there is no surveillance video capturing the shooting, but they believe Smith was on a bicycle when he attempted to rob Chasen. TMZ says they hear Chasen was shot going westbound on Sunset, waiting to turn left onto Whittier Drive, which would mean Smith would have been in the middle of the busy street on his bicycle when he allegedly fired the shots. Apparently though it was Smith’s MO to target and rob woman.
