Oprah Winfrey Addresses Lesbian Rumors In Tonight’s Barbara Walters Special

Published on December 9, 2010 at 8:08 AM

(HMG Celebrity News) – In tonight’s Barbara Walters special, Oprah Winfrey is setting the record straight: She’s “not even kind of a lesbian.”  She tells Barbara: “And the reason why [the rumor] irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying.”  That’s number one. Number two … why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”

For years tabloids have accused Winfrey of having a relationship with best friend Gayle King.  The media mogul, whose new OWN Network is scheduled to launch Jan. 1, became emotional when explaining that rumors persist in the interview, airing Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, telling Barbara:  “Gayle is the mother I never had. She is the sister everyone would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person,” Winfrey says while choking up.

Of her longtime love, Stedman Graham, Winfrey told Walters they are still an item and that he is “the love. . .the lover. . .the man. . .the partner. . .the mate.”
