Teen Mom, Amber Portwood loses custody, may appeal
(HMG Celebrity News) – As you know, ‘Teen Mom’ star Amber Portwood was due in court for assaulting her boyfriend. And the hearing didn’t go well for her.
The 20-year old is facing two felony counts and a misdemeanor charge for allegedly hitting her ex-fiancée, Gary Shirley in three separate incidents between August 2009 and July of this year – all of which were caught by the cameras.
The former couple were in court in Anderson, Indiana yesterday for an emergency hearing to determine where their two-year old daughter, Leah should live now her parents have split. And the decision was brisk;
“Leah is now a ward of the state,” a court source told Radar.
This means her living situation will be determined by a Judge, who will order the state’s Department of Child Services to monitor Leah in a new home that Judge will choose. This is usually with another member of the same family, but she is currently living with Gary.
Sources say the ex-lovers seemed very friendly in court, but DCS will now monitor Leah’s progress and decide if she can live with Gary full-time. Amber can still apply for custody, however.
After the hearing Amber was escorted by DCS to Gary’s house where she was allowed a one-hour visit with Leah, under their supervision. They have also asked Gary to adjust his home to suit Leah’s needs, and he’s agreed.
Indiana law requires that once a child is made a ‘Ward of the State’ a hearing must be held within 48-hours to determine where that child should live, so we should get an update to this story on Friday.
Personally, I say Amber should get at least 10-years in San Quentin for giving a 2-year old child ‘Bieber Hair.’ But stay tuned…
