Publicist Ronni Chasen’s killing preplanned according to police

[HMG Celebrity News] – Tuesday’s unexplained murder of Hollywood publicist, Ronni Chasen has raised many questions about motive and suspects, but local police now say they have a working theory on why she was killed.

The shooting occurred at around 12.30am Tuesday morning. The LAPD now believe Ronni, 64, was driving home along Sunset Boulevard and made a left onto Whittier Drive. Another car is then believed to have pulled alongside, and five shots smashed through the passenger window.

The Mercedes E350 traveled a short distance along Whittier then hit a light-pole and the driver’s air-bag deployed. Ronni was rushed to a local hospital by paramedics, but was soon pronounced dead.

Police have dismissed theories of car-jacking or road-rage. They now believe the attack was planned but cannot say whether Ronni was a deliberate target, or why she was even a victim.

“We know it’s not some sort of sniper shooting,” Beverly Hills Police Sgt. Lincoln Hoshino told THR. “But we haven’t ruled out anything within reason.”

Sergeant Hoshino described the investigation as ‘wide open’ and said the BHPD has not yet found a credible motive.

Police have since recovered footage from security cameras installed at a home close to where Ronni’s car crashed. The owner, Sherry Hackett [wife of the comedian and actor Buddy Hackett] is believed to be cooperating with police requests for that tape.

“I don’t know if our Detectives have it already, but it is entirely possible,” says Hoshino.

Ronni died just after leaving a Hollywood party for the premiere of ‘Burlesque.’ The area in which she was killed is littered with multi-million-dollar mansions, and is home to many Hollywood names. Police are now actively seeking additional footage from cameras installed at those homes.

But so far there are no suspects…
