Leonardo DiCaprio to star in new JFK film
[HMG Celebrity News] – The assassination of President Kennedy in November 1963 has been covered in several films, and Leonardo DiCaprio has now signed to both star in and produce ‘Legacy of Secrecy’ – the latest edition.
Based on the 2008 book, ‘Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination’ the film will tell how Mafia Godfather, Carlos Marcello once confessed to a man named Jack Van Laningham that he ordered the JFK hit. But Van Laningham was an FBI informant, and he told them the whole story.
While hopefully planning a digest of the book’s 864 pages of intensive research, Leo will play Jack in the movie.
Despite a reputation as a Mafia don whose brutal rule loomed over Louisiana and Texas for decades, Marcello has never been the object of a movie before. Over a dozen of his friends and family were arrested and questioned after JFK died, but no-one would talk so the case fell apart.
But in 1979 a Congressional Committee decided that he and his Mafia associate Santo Trafficante “had the motive, means, and opportunity to assassinate President Kennedy.”
Marcello died of heart disease and complications from Alzheimer’s on March 3rd 1993. He was never arrested or charged for the alleged crime.
Warners is planning to release ‘Legacy…’ in 2013 – which is the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s death.
