[HMG Celebrity News] – In an unbroken career of over five decades Dick Van Dyke has been saved from disaster by flying cars, sharp-eyed assistants and magical nannies. But his latest escape from an untimely end involved a new ally — Porpoises.

The venerable 84-year old actor sat down with Craig Ferguson last week and shared a tale so tall, only he could conceive it. It seems Dick was out surfing one day and fell asleep on his board. Now, read on..

“I woke up out of sight of land,” Dick told the host. “I started paddling with the swells and I start seeing fins swimming around me and I thought ‘I’m dead!’”

But Dick’s fears were soon dispelled; “They turned out to be porpoises,” he explained. “And they pushed me all the way to shore.”

This was greeted with laughter. “I’m not kidding,” Dick then assured the chuckling crowd.

The porpoises were unavailable for comment at press time.

Since getting his break on an Illinois radio station in 1947 Dick has made no less than 21 movies and 43 television shows. So the man has a gift for invention. But watch the video and decide for yourself — Do you think this story is true?…
