Karina Smirnoff Engaged to MLB Star
(ChattahBox Celebrity News) – Dancing With the Stars Pro Karina Smirnoff has found love again this time outside the ballroom, and it looks like it will lead to a walk down the isle. Karina has revealed a secret she’s held onto for a while, that she got engaged last month to her boyfriend, St. Louis Cardinals baseball pitcher Brad Penny. Both are 32, and they have been engaged since Oct. 4. Karina who partnered with Mike ‘The Situation’ this season until their recent elimination, said her Oklahoma-born fiance, proposed on one knee at a restaurant with a 4.5 carat diamond ring.  They kept the engagement a secret until they could get their families in New York and Oklahoma together so they would be the first to know according to People Magazine.
Smirnoff and fellow Ukrainian and DWTS pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy rang in 2009 by announcing their engagement on New Year’s, but split nine months later. Smirnoff originally joined DWTS during season 3, when she was paired with Mario Lopez. Their partnership blossomed into a two-year romance, ending in 2008. Smirnoff and Penny met through a mutual friend, UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, shortly after she broke up with Chmerkovskiy. No wedding date has been planned yet. In the meantime Brad will have a good teacher for that first dance.
