(HMG Celebrity News) – Los Angeles police are investigating the death of the wife of a contestant on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ found dead in a hotel stairwell. TMZ.com reports Joe Finley told police he and his wife Laura took ecstasy on Friday night before hitting the town at around 8:30 PM. He said they came back to their hotel room later that night and eventually went to sleep. But at 3am, Laura got out of bed and left the room. Joe claims he assumed she was getting ice, but when he woke up the next morning, she hadn’t come back. After he woke up Saturday, Joe said when he didn’t see Laura in the room he decided to call hotel security, asking them to page her over the public address system. Laura was later found in stairwell at the Millenium Hotel in Los Angeles on Saturday morning.
Auditions for ‘America’s Got Talent’ were being held at the hotel.  Surprisingly, Joe who was named a person of interest in the death, auditioned for the show while his wife was still considered missing and not known to be dead. TMZ reports that after being questioned by police for several hours, Joe was allowed to go to his audition although he said at that time that he had assumed that his wife was dead. And yet he went through the audition anyway and was questioned again by police afterward, during when he confessed he had three more ecstasy pills in his possession. Joe, tells TMZ he did not murder his wife but that her death was not an accident, and claims cops told him that someone went to the front desk and requested a key to their room at around 1:30 AM, an hour and a half before Finley claims he last saw his wife.
