RANDY-EVI-QUAID-LATEST-MUGSHOT(HMG Celebrity News) – Once again kooky couple Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have been brought to justice after being on the lam for their arrest last month on suspicion of illegally squatting at a home. After a judge issued $50,000 arrest warrant for their arrests, on a felony vandalism charge, the Quaids took off for Canada. Randy, 60, and Evi, 47, were eventually located and arrested in Vancouver, British Columbia, and jailed. According to the Vancouver Sun, at their first hearing Evi told a Canadian immigration adjudicator they should not be forced to return to the US, because eight of their friends, such as actors David Carradine and Heath Ledger, have been “murdered” under mysterious circumstances and she’s worried something will happen to her husband next.

In a handwritten note, shown to media by their Vancouverbased lawyer, Brian Tsuji, the couple said: “Yes we are requesting asylum from Hollywood ‘STAR WHACKERS.’” The Quaids were returned to jail but are set to appear at a Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board hearing again next Thursday.

Deputies arrested the couple last month on suspicion that they were living in the guest house of a Montecito home they previously owned. Authorities said at the time the Quaids were suspected of causing more than $5,000 in damage. When confronted by police the Quaids, apparently insisted they had owned the property since the 1990s, but documentation was provided that the current owner had purchased the property in 2007 from a man who had bought it from the Quaids several years earlier. Randy, 59, was arrested without incident, but Evi, 47, physically resisted arrest, and is also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.

It seems like these two are quite reluctant or just can’t afford to pay for their living expenses. The Quaids frequently missed court appearances in an earlier case involving charges they defrauded an innkeeper. That case was resolved in April with Evi Quaid pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count. The charges against her husband were dropped.

Previous to all that, Randy was expelled from the stage performers’ union, Actors Equity Association, after he allegedly missed rehearsals for Broadway bound “Lone Star Love” in 2007, thanks to some bizarre hijinks attributed to him and his wife, Evi. The Quaids’ antics were too much for the producers of the $6.5 million musical, so they closed the show in Seattle, bitterly complaining the couple had “hijacked” the production. All 26 members of the “Lone Star Love” cast brought Randy up on charges with Actors’ Equity Association, claiming he physically and verbally abused his fellow performers and that his oddball behavior onstage and off forced the show to close, thus depriving them of their jobs. some close to the couple believe lawsuits stemming from the incident triggered the duo’s criminal exploits.  Randy Quaid, 60, older brother of Dennis Quaid, is best-known for supporting roles in films such as “Independence Day” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation.”
