[HMG Celebrity News] – October is ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month,’ and as it winds down we hear the unwelcome news that Hollywood legend Kim Novak has become its newest case.

“It was caught early by a routine yearly mammogram and she’s undergoing treatment,” Kim’s agent, Sue Cameron tells THR. “All her doctors say she’s in fantastic shape and should recover well.”

Acting since she was 21, Kim achieved global fame with her dual role as Madeleine Elster and Judy Barton, starring opposite Jimmy Stewart in the 1958 Hitchcock classic, ‘Vertigo.’ Now 77, she lives with her second husband, Dr. Robert Malloy on a farm in Oregon where they raise horses and llamas.

And Sue says Kim’s healthy lifestyle, plus her regular work-outs and love of horse riding has kept her in great shape and will really help her beat the infection;

Kim’s last big screen role was in 1991′s ‘Liebestraum,’ but her scenes were cut from the final version after she battled with its director, Mike Figgis — best known for 1996′s ‘Leaving Las Vegas,’ which won Nic Cage an Oscar.

In August she was honored by the independent film organization, ‘American Cinematheque’ at an event in Los Angeles, and as proof of her enduring fame every single one of the Grauman’s Theater’s 800 seats was sold out.

Kim is now in treatment, which can last a while, but we’ll update you as more news arrives…
