Warrants Issued for Elusive Randy Quaid and his Wife Evi (Again)
(HMG Celebrity News) – This story writes itself because it has happened so often of late. Once again kooky couple Randy Quaid and his wife Evi failed to show up at a court hearing stemming from their arrest last month on suspicion of illegally squatting at a home. A judge issued $50,000 arrest warrants Monday for their arrests, on a felony vandalism charge.
Deputies arrested the couple last month on suspicion that they were living in the guest house of a Montecito home they previously owned. Authorities said at the time the Quaids were suspected of causing more than $5,000 in damage. When confronted by police the Quaids, apparently insisted they had owned the property since the 1990s, but documentation was provided that the current owner had purchased the property in 2007 from a man who had bought it from the Quaids several years earlier. Randy, 59, was arrested without incident, but Evi, 47, physically resisted arrest, and is also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.
It seems like these two are quite reluctant or just can’t afford to pay for their living expenses. The Quaids frequently missed court appearances in an earlier case involving charges they defrauded an innkeeper. That case was resolved in April with Evi Quaid pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count. The charges against her husband were dropped.
Randy Quaid, 60, older brother of Dennis Quaid, is best-known for supporting roles in films such as “Independence Day” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation.”
