Two-timing Chilean miner Yonni Barrios Asked Wife and Mistress to Greet Him on Rescue
(HMG Celebrity News) – Joyfully the dramatic rescue is over, after crews pulled up Luis Urzua, 54, the last of the 33 miners who’d been trapped underground in that Chilean mine for more than two months. There’s been an interesting subplot from the dramatic rescue that has also come to an apparent conclusion. It started when the news broke in September that miner Yonni Barrios had a mistress, Susana Valenzuela, for five years. Marta Salinas, Yonni’s wife of 28 years, apparently did not know of Mrs Valenzuela’s existence, until after hearing another woman calling his name during a vigil at the mine. According to a South American newspaper, when Barrios, nicknamed the ‘cheatin’ Chilean’, was asked to choose the three people that would be greeting him at the site; he requested his sister, his wife and his mistress. Well that request didn’t fly. Barrios who emerged as the 21st miner to be rescued, was known as “the doctor” of the group because he used the medical skills he learned by caring for his diabetic mother, to help administer medication to his colleagues. He was greeted when he came up by Valenzuela, but he won’t likely be playing doctor with his wife anymore. Salinas claims to have received almost 60 apologetic letters from Barrios, but she vowed not to even watch the rescue from her living room. “It’s been 28 years,” she said of their marriage, adding that “if he wants to start a new life with her, well good for him.”
