‘Pushing Daisies’ scribe, Bryan Fuller penning Munsters remake
[HMG Celebrity News] – While his last series, ‘Pushing Daisies’ was widely praised for originality before being unjustly canceled. Bryan Fuller’s next project should be strangled at birth — He’s planning to remake ‘The Munsters.’
After ‘Daisies’ was canceled in June of last year the 41-year old writer/producer signed a two-year, seven-figure deal with NBC Universal, and it’s with them that this ghastly idea is now being hatched.
Before you climb out on that ledge we should reassure you that NBC has only ordered a pilot…So far. But the concept for a full series is described by EW as ‘Modern Family’ meets ‘True Blood.’
Some see this blend as a positive omen. I don’t concur.
A rumor is also being floated that Guillermo del Toro may take a backstage role in producing the remake.
Debuted on September 24th, 1964 the original series [henceforth doomed to be known as 'The good one,'] told the story of a rather less than typical American family. Only seventy episodes were ever made, but it promptly became a cult classic through the wonders of syndication.
Another attempt at a remake, ‘The Munsters Today’ bowed in 1988, and ran for 72 low-rated episodes before being killed. But the NBC suits still think the idea is a winner.
Some people just never learn.
If you’re a fan of the black-and-white classic, what’s your view of this plan?…
