Greg Giraldo[HMG Celebrity News] – Greg Giraldo, the popular comedian and judge on ‘Last Comic Standing’ who was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital late Saturday night after reportedly overdosing on prescription pills has died on Wednesday.

The 44-year old father of three who was due to perform earlier that day at ‘The New York Recovery Rally,’ to promote ‘Addiction Recovery Month.’ was found unresponsive during a party at his hotel in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

“It was like a zoo here,” an eyewitness said of the scene.

Paramedics were immediately summoned and managed to revive Greg, then transported him to the hospital for further intervention and tests.

“It was an accidental overdose, and he is in critical condition,” a rep for Greg’s management told the Post, at the time.

A graduate of Harvard law school and a recovering alcoholic since 2005, Greg had been staying at the hotel during a four-night gig at ‘The Stress Factory’ in New Brunswick. As soon as news of his hospital stay broke, fans swarmed to his Facebook page to get information and offer support.  TMZ reports, plans are being made for a public memorial service.

Update: TMZ reports that Greg Giraldo was in a coma the entire 5 days he was in the hospital and was apparently also on life support, when his family ultimately made the decision to pull the plug, and end the comedian’s life.  No word on whether Greg had left specific instructions for his family in the event of such a situation.
