Mel Gibson (R) and Oksana Grigorieva(HMG Celebrity News) – Just a month before RadarOnline turned tapes of Mel Gibson’s rants against his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, into an Internet sensation, the two had allegedly signed a contract to destroy them.  The couple split in April and the break-up turned nasty when the Russian singer who is the mother of Mel’s latest child, accused her former partner of beating her during a violent argument in January.

But before that, Gibson reportedly (in a document obtained by TMZ) agreed to pay Grigorieva and their daughter roughly $15 million, after a two-day mediation in May, provided she “turn over all ‘evidence’, to be destroyed in a manner agreed upon by both parties”—and that included the audio tapes, which had been the elephant in the room during the negotiations. The document also cites a “50-50″ custody share of the former couple’s daughter, Lucia, and a joint, mutually agreeable press release about the reasons for the separation.
But once it came to signing a longer agreement detailing the specifics, including $1 million when Grigorieva handed over the evidence and payments of $10,000 per month for 18 years beginning in 2011, she balked. The first contract is now at the center of L.A. County Sheriff’s Department investigation into Gibson’s claims of extortion.  If the district attorney does file extortion charges against Oksana, it could forces her to refuse to testify against Mel Gibson on the possible domestic violence case, because what she says could incriminate her.
