‘Goodfellas’ Based Television Show on the Way
(HMG Celebrity News) – Work is underway on a small screen adaptation of Martin Scorsese‘s Mafia movie classic, Goodfellas, perhaps filling the void on television that has been there since “The Sopranos” went off the air.. The real-life story of Mob Rat Henry Hill’s (played by Ray Liotta) 25 year courtship with the Lucchese Crime Family looks to be getting a new lease on life just in time for the 20th anniversary of the film’s release. Nicholas Pileggi, who wrote both the Oscar-winning mafia movie and the book “Wise Guys,” it was based on, will pen “at least the pilot episode” according to Deadline.com. Irwin Winkler, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on “Goodfellas,” will most likely become the TV shows’ executive producer, according to Deadline.
The interest in Goodfellas follows as Martin Scorsese made his TV debut with Boardwalk Empire on HBO this week, as the series has been already renewed for a second season after only the first broadcast.
