John “Junior” Gotti will tell ‘father-son’ mob story for film – Sylvester Stallone to star?

(HMG Celebrity Gossip) – Yesterday it was announced that John “Junior” Gotti, son of The Dapper Don mob legend John Gotti, has sold the rights to his life story to Fiore Films, an independent production company that hopes to bring the 46-year-old mafia scion’s tale of racketeering and supposed redemption to the silver screen. Junior’s father John led the murderous Gambino Crime Family for nearly a decade before he was sent to federal prison for life thanks to the 1992 testimony of his jilted underboss Sammy “The Bull” Gravano. This deal marks the first time a member of the notorious crime family has entered into an agreement to tell their story.

“During the past 20 years, there have been numerous made-for-television movies, books and other representations about me, my father and our family. None of these projects were done in co-operation with my family and, in most cases, did not accurately reflect our lives. This film will not be a mob expose, but rather the true story of my life and relationship with my father,” John Gotti says.

Gotti Jr., who previously served nine years in prison for racketeering, has been tried for the offense four times since 2005, with each trial ending in a hung jury.  The feds finally announcing they’d given up and wouldn’t seek a 5th trial.  Junior, a father of six, who claims he left organized crime for good in 1999, hopes that being closely involved with the biopic project will add a bit of humanity to a life story that’s been anything but ordinary.

“People love it because it’s so different from the average, everyday American family, yet maybe not so different,” Gotti remarked in an interview with the AP on Wednesday. “I make dinner and my family has to be there every Sunday … I don’t care what they do the rest of the week, that’s what we do. We’re a pretty normal family with kids running all over the place. We have opinions, we have arguments, we have joy.”

Fiore producers are already in talks with stars — including Sylvester Stallone — about possible roles in the production, slated to open in theaters in late 2011.
