[HMG Celebrity News] – When the story broke about Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller being involved in a fight on Christmas Day, the press all went wild. And now a former police officer says there was good cause.

Valerie McFarlane was one of the officers assigned to interview Mueller, and was also detailed to take pictures of the injuries Brooke had sustained.

“When you see those photos it changes everything,” McFarlane tells E. “You get it. You really get it.”

The police report revealed that 32-year old Mueller had red marks on her neck that were ‘consistent with a strangulation attempt,’ and faded bruises on her arms from an alleged fight that occurred two months before.

“But this one really scared her because he had her on the bed with a knife for about 20-minutes,” says McFarlane.

Mueller also told her the pair fought several times, and showed her the bruises from the October fight;

“She explained they had a fight and she had to visit a Neurologist because of the injuries,” says the ex-cop.

Police reports from December reveal that Mueller did have a CAT scan after what she said was ‘a fall’ in October – but the incident itself was never reported.

McFarlane has since been fired by the Aspen PD for allegedly trying to exploit her position to get cash and other perks from reporters assigned to the case. She now claims she’s speaking out to raise awareness of domestic violence. In the same case.

On August 2nd, Charlie plead guilty to misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to 30-days in rehab and a 36-hours anger management course for the Christmas Day scene. He’s also banned from possessing firearms for the rest of his life…
