Paris Hilton sentenced but no jail time – promises better behavior
[HMG Celebrity News] – When the news broke last month that Paris Hilton had been arrested for possessing cocaine most people said she’d find a way to duck out of the charges. And they were right.
The 29-year old socialite appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom this morning and pleaded guilty to possessing the drug and obstructing an officer, in return for which she got one year probation, a $2,000 fine, 200 hours of community service and must also complete a substance abuse program.
“You have been sentenced to one year in Clark County Detention Center,” Judge Joe Bonaventure told the defendant. “I can assure you it’s not the Waldorf Astoria.”
And this is the same Judge who put O.J in jail — so he’ll make sure she serves time if she upsets him.
After her arrest on August 26th Hilton was charged with felony drug possession, but that was downgraded to a misdemeanor in the plea deal. She did, however, admit she was lying when she told Police the purse in which the cocaine was found wasn’t hers.
And this latest escape seems to have caught her attention. Insiders tell TMZ that Paris has told them “I’m taking this whole ordeal as a wake up call,” and that she now plans to “grow up and become a responsible adult.”
The snag is we’ve heard this before — Found guilty on a DUI charge, Hilton began a 45-day sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California on June 3rd of 2007. On her release 23-days later came this quote;
“I want to visit more countries where poverty and children’s issues are a big concern,” she told reporters. “There’s a lot of good I can do by bringing attention to these issues.”
So far, that’s not been the case. Do you believe she’ll now change her ways, or is this just the meds talking?…
