Bruno Mars arrested for cocaine possession

[HMG Celebrity News] – In further proof of the pervasive dangers of drugs, R&B singer-songwriter Bruno Mars was arrested Sunday morning at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, on suspicion of narcotics possession.

Born ‘Peter Gene Hernandez,’ the 23-year old singer was arrested at 2.40am after hotel security staff confronted him in a bathroom with drugs in his possession. He was due to perform at the hotel but the performance was canceled.

Sgt. John Sheahan of the Las Vegas police said the arrest occurred without incident. The singer was found with 2.6 grams of cocaine and was in the process of using it.

Mars’ most recent appearance was at the MTV Video Music Awards, performing “Nothing on You” with B.o.B. He’s also the author of Travis McCoy’s hit ‘Billionaire,’ and co-wrote Flo-Rida’s hit ‘Right Round.’

But his Twitter feed makes no mention of this brush with the law. The newest tweet from 11pm last night merely reads;

“Texas is dope! I’m in Dallas…meeting folks at the radio stations. Tune in for a live performance.”

Mars is preparing his first solo album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans,’ which is due out next month. But his record label had no comment about the arrest.
